The Beach

Well after a grueling 4 hours or so.. in the car driving to Port Aransas.. Paula and I went and walked down the beach briefly at like 11 oclock (when we got there on tuesday).. and then we went to bed! Paula had trouble sleeping cuz she was worrying about her phone alarm going off.. which she didn't even wake up to in the morning. Wednesday morning we had cereal for breakfast! and egg salad sandwiches for lunch and clam chowder for dinner! In between times.. Paula and I rode the waves atop our boogie boards that we bought especially for the trip and Brenda joined us for an hour or so as well. And we took a break in between time where we watched TV, and slept a little, and then went back out.

Then we went and got "caught" in some tourist traps with brenda; I got a wooden carved dolphin. In the evening on Wednesday, Paula and I weren't quite sure what to do.. cuz we had brought our DVD player and some rentals so we could watch a movie when we were taking a break from the sun.. but the TVs were so old.. the DVD player wouldn't work with them.. sooo we made stupid movies .. sort of lol. (brenda joined us for a few minutes--taking a break from reading her book) they were funny anyhow.

Thursday morning we had danish/coffee cake stuff.. which was good.. and cocktail weiners for breakfast!! yay, my fave. Then we gathered our stuff up a bit, and hurried to the beach to make a sand castle and catch some last minute waves, which we did.. they were really good ones.

and then we had to run back to the hotel to rinse off and gather our stuff into the car, and check out of the hotel. then we went back to the beach for some last minute photo ops.. since we didnt get much on wednesday cuz mom and dad stayed in the hotel mostly cuz they couldn't get the canopy we brought to work (too windy). they didn't want to be in the sun.

For lunch we stopped in at the same restaurant we went to two years ago when we went to the beach, called Charlotte Plumbers, in Rockport. Enjoyed some great seafood.. and stopped in at one other tourist place, where I considered getting a henna tattoo (all natural indian stuff that lasts for like a month).. but ended up getting a new anklet and a new necklace. From there we headed on home.. stopped at the same gas station we stopped at on the way up (only 3.54/gallon) and we bought 4 pints of ice cream.. and ate them all up for only 6$. w00t. We got home at 6:30 and Melanie and Josh we're waiting for us.. cuz they had stopped over to feed the animals.. when they informed us that our A/C had died.. sad story.. it's really hot.
I suppose that's all though, for now =)

Goodbyes

Well, I got my YW Medallion in church today. Paula says I recieved it illegally cuz the bishop still hasn't signed it lol. He wasn't there today. I wanted to get it today tho, cuz Paula was gunna come.. and she'd be mad at me if she came for no good reason.. but then she didn't come. And I was grumpy. Oh well.

I filled out "The Yellow Sheet" at Singles Ward today, to request my records to be moved over, so I'll be official =) And Paula Prince and Devin Kelm gave talks on the temple today in church. I went home after singles ward, and scurried to make some Spanish Rice that I was assigned to bring to "Dinner Group" and then went to Dinner group and had fun, it was a real good group of people. We had fun chatting and laughing. Lots of laughing, lots of "get to know you". It went really well..

I suppose my main purpose for this little message today tho, is to say that our dog, Mid"Night" Snowflake Capps, died. She followed someone outside the house, and well, our little old dog liked to start a-wandering if no one was really watching her to call her back.. and she got hit by a car. So I suppose she died, doing her favorite thing, which was wandering. When she was younger she'd walk all the way around the neighborhood, back to the creek, so she could find out fence and dig a way under, and come through the fence into the backyard lol. She was such a cutie.. In her old age she tripped over everything, including her own feet. And she pretty much just lived in her little nook beside the couch. But she loved people and attention, and didn't mind the cats, and the cats didn't mind her. She's been around my whole life.. so I'll miss her, especially coming home to visit the family, when she's not there. I was expecting her to die at any time really.. but not by getting hit by a car.. maybe it was for the best.. But here's to Night. A good dog her whole life.

Temple Trip

Well last night I slept the night at one of my best friend's houses, Krista, cuz she was all alone, no family around.... (party time! lol jk) and we stayed up till like 1am talking.. and it was a really good time. I really enjoyed it, hadnt had such a long girl chat in forever. It felt really good to just talk -- from girls camp and girl scouts, to smart camps, and boys and catholic/mormon culture.. just whatever.

Then she woke up at like 6am somethin to deal with the birdy and the dog and whatever.. and i decided to get up around like 7 someetime.. not sure when lol. krista made eggs, some very yummy ones, and then we left the house and went our separate ways!

From there I went to the church house to await the arrival of the other temple-goers. I was really glad to be able to go. A couple weeks prior I felt like I wouldn't be able to go.. but I prayed to the Lord, and I felt better about it, and things turned out well. I took some family names from mom and dad's constant genealogy quest to the temple, and I just felt really good about it. The temple's a great and sacred, holy place to be in. I always want to be worthy to step inside.

We went to CiCi's Pizza afterwards, where Paula and I promptly stuffed ourselves! yay for food. and yay for buffet style pizza, man. Then my mom and dad and me went to Melanie and Josh's house to help them pack.. where i promptly took a nap in their bed.. becauuse I was dead lol.

Ice Skating

Well today, Michael and I went ice skating.. or atleast tried at first lol. We went to one place and it wasnt open to the public.. and then to another.. and it took us a while to figure out how to get in.. but wedid get in and i think we skated for atleast an hour.. hour and a half.. somethiin.. then i went home and tried to take a nap.. i think i did succeed for a while.. not sure.. my red eye's getting better. oh and i gave michael my self portrait drawing that i did. i think he was pleased =)

i patched up a set of my old glasses with wax and tape.. ykno good old fashioned remedies.. so that i can drive safely without having to wear contacts.. cuz i dont want to right now especially with my funky eye. prescription's not quite right.. but they work well enough for driving.

then i went and "babysat" someone's kid.. which was.. watching a movie while the kid slept and the parents saw Batman (the dark knight).. good deal. it was a good movie to boot. made me cry but it was still good. aand that's pretty much all for the day i think =)

Photos Galore

Well today I sat down and tried to organize my stacks and stacks of photos.. and it pretty much took me all day.. The first couple albums were pretty easy cuz they were actually in the right order and stuff.. but then i started noticing doubles, and that they werent in order.. so then it got all complicated.. and yah, took me a while.. trying to organize 600 photos into like 7 different stacks.. is hard lol.
but im done now.. tomorrow though i'll have to put all of the stacks in chronological order lol.. blehhh. You can see my lovely circle of pictures, and where i was sitting in the middle! lol. which just so happens to look like a heart.. symbolizing the TLC im putting into this project for my buddies lol.

My eye was red today.. it was red the other day.. but then i took out my contacts.. and it was fiiine the next day.. well i put my contacts back in yesterday to drive.. and slept in them thinking id take 'em out the next morning.. aaand my eye was super red when i woke up this morning, and its like a little swollen. sadness. and i threw away that set of contacts.. i really wanna have my glasses but i still cant find them. =/

I got called for a babysitting job today by Sis Paige, who has twins, that will be sleeping while i sit them lol, so it shouldn't be too hard. Paula usually babysits them. That's going down on Friday at 7:30pm.

Self Portrait

Well I promised you that when Brenda's scanner was up, I'd scan in my picture that I did of myself.. however.. it's still not up, and I happened to buy a camera today.. so here's an attempt at a picture of it. and the original of course.
detail of course is always lost in a copy.. but it's still good i think.
i noticed too that since i couldnt put the drawing in the frame i have for it, cuz of y'kno, glass glare cuz i was taking a picture.. it'd warped a little bit, so there's funny shading going on.. but whatever.. i'll update with a better picture when we put up the scanner lol.

Another Surgery

I am, by the way, getting my 5th surgery on my ear on August 5th. Sounds lucky huh. I think so! In the past they've done a procedure called Tympanoplasty where they take tissue from behind my ear and graft it in to my ear drum so that it can heal.. and you know.. sometimes its worked.. sometimes it hasnt.. it just always manages to come back.

This time, they're going to steal fat from my earlobe [procedure called Myringoplasty] (scarey thought, they better not screw up my ear lobe).. and we'll see how that goes!

Since I pretty much have to avoid water after my surgery, we're going to the beach next week to make up for my lack of water the rest of the summer lol. I think I'm gunna try to squeeze in some swimming time this week too. My buddy Paula might go with us to the beach so I wont be swimming all by my lonesome.

Recent Projects

Well, recently, I've been working on lots of things!
I've been trying to finish up my Personal Progress for Young Womens.. so I made a personal Book of Remembrance which is now several inches thick, and I'm rather proud of it. I also have been working on making a quilt for college, it's almost completed. It's striped with white pieces, and blue plaid pieces. It's partly quilted and partly a tie quilt. I just have to sew the edges up. And i did a fer-cereal cleaning of my room project.. in an attempt to prepare for leaving for college. Just gotta keep it clean..

My present to some close friends as we separate and go to our respective places in life and colleges etc... is some photo books. So I've been trying to be a paparazzi all year long, with a camera I bought in september. Sadly it broke in May.. not my fault.. a friend's at school. He's supposed to help me pay for a new one.. but he hasn't gotten the money yet. For several months near the end here I've used my boyfriend's camera cuz he's not as much of a paparazzi as me. I'm making 5 photo books including my own, so I recently ordered 600 photos to be developed (and that's just for the spring semester, I already developed the Fall semester's photos). I'm trying to finish those up here in the next couple weeks so I wont have to ship them to my friends that are leaving at the end of August to go to college.

I decided to draw a self portrait of myself to give to my boyfriend, Michael (yes, he's a member of the church). It came out quite lovely, as soon as we get my sister's scanner up and running I plan on scanning in the photo, and of course the original picture I was looking at, so that you all may see it, before I give it to him.

My latest project has been to start making a digital copy of all my journals in life including baby journals and things.. and add in commentary so it's almost like an autobiography.

I'll also start looking for a job fairly soon here round abouts. Maybe Petsmart, we'll see.

Band Hobbies 2007-2008 (Recap)

Winterguard: This particular video is fairly early on in the winterguard season so it was the first time we performed the entire show. So we kind of exploded and died in the middle/end.. I don't have a copy of the final performance to give ya at the moment. But you can tell we rocked eventually lol. I'm the rifle on the left in the very back, behind the flags, when the video first starts out.

LBJ Marching Band: This year I was on the Colorguard line instead of flute. After watching this you'll appreciate where we were skill level wise in the winterguard show, a little bit more. 'Cuz we kind of stank really bad here. This atleast was also not our last performance. It's only like 2 minutes long.. and a full show is 8 minutes for marching season.
